How is Black Soap Made?
Soap Making Process
African Black Soap is 100% natural and has many benefits to the skin. The skin of the plantain is dried by the sun and roasted in a clay oven. The heat in this process varies and is why the black soap ranges from a light to dark brownish black color, texture, and smell. African Black Soap appears darker when the plantain skins have been roasted longer. Next, cocoa pod powder from the shell of the cocoa fruit is added because of its natural healing properties. The last part of the process consists of mixing the roasted plantain skin with palm and palm kernel oil to form the soap. The mixture is stirred over a period of days and then placed in molds to cure.
